WELCOME to the WC5W Round Table Ragchew (RTR).

PSK-31 is probably the most popular of the Phase-Shift-Keying group. Our goal is to promote more 3-way, 4-way QSOs.

RTR is a round table of ragchew operators having fun talking about various topics of interest.

The Purpose of the WC5W Round Table Ragchew (RTR):
Some folks want more QSO after the typical macro exchange. We all use macros but we shouldn't be limited to them. In a 2-way QSO, some of us barely have time to type, but in the Round Table Ragchew you have more time to type ahead while others are transmitting.

RTR is NOT a net. We do NOT relay messages. Please check-in only if you copy all stations on the list.

For a Simple 3-way Round Table

  • Make sure you copy BOTH stations.
  • Put the two callsigns into your software separated by a comma. And enter the ops name that you will turn it over to at the end of your transmission.
  • We want a rotation around the table, not back and forth, like a net where a control op does all the work.
  • NOTE: WC5W will NOT be using automatic frequency control (AFC). All other stations should track WC5W's audio frequecy with AFC. This will keep the group from drifting and causing possible QRM.

An Extended Round Table on PSK-31

This doesn't happen very often but more than three or four stations can join a round table and have a great time when the band is in good shape. We will be using a list.

The following may seem difficult at first, but once you go through it a couple times it will become second nature and the FUN begins!

Joining the Extended Round Table:

  • WC5W will invite new check-ins to the Round Table.
  • You can join the round table by calling WC5W, he will put you on the list.
  • AFTER you see that you are on the list, notice the call above yours, they will be calling you.

Rotation:

  • Proper rotation is important. Please pay attention to the list.
  • Keep in rotation by calling the op that comes after your callsign. (Type his call in your "CALL" macro.) Remember if you are last on the list, you call the top spot.
  • Also pay attention to who joins after you, you will then call him and he will call the top spot.
  • You will have to update your "call" macro as the list changes (folks joining or leaving the Round Table). Its easy, as the list prints just double-click on the callsign after yours.
  • The "list" will be sent on each round.

Topic:

  • As the round table continues the topic may change, but try to stay on topic as in an eyeball QSO. (Suggestions are always welcome.)

You will probably want to create some macros for use on the round table. Below are suggestions. Follow the format for your software.

  • One for calling into the round table: <TX> WC5W this is <my:call> <my:name> please add me to the list. KN <stop>
  • Over to: <TX> Over to <his:name> <his:call> in the group de <my:call> KN <stop> or <TX> Over to <his:name> <his:call>at the round table de <my:call> KN <stop>
